Greenhouse Effect on: myspace
| | Greenhouse Effect is Blueprint & Fess.
The crew Greenhouse Effect, hailing from Columbus Ohio, was formed in 1997 and originally consisted of members Inkwel, Blueprint, and Manifest. After selling 3-4 thousand copies of their debut EP Up To Speed(2000) with limited distribution on their own label Weightless Recordings, Greenhouse Effect began preparing to release their anticipated full-length album Life Sentences in 2002. Their future looked bright. Unfortunately, the crew was dealt an unexpected blow when emcee Inkwel retired from hip-hop completely and devoted himself to becoming a preacher. The decision was a shock to everyone involved, and left the group unsure of how to promote the Life Sentences album, so remaining members Blueprint and Manifest decided to shelve the album and reluctantly tell their fans that Greenhouse Effect was dead.
Fortunately for the group, Blueprint's career took a huge step up in profile after his Soul Position collaboration with producer RJD2 hit the shelves. Greenhouse was featured on the song "Survival" from the Soul Position album 8-Million Stories and people started asking about the group again. As a gesture to give their fans what they had been missing out on Blueprint and Manifest decided to finally release "Life Sentence", the last album that featured retired emcee Inkwel, but limit its availability to 1,000 copies and put an end to that chapter in their careers.
What seemed at first like a crushing blow to their identity actually became an opportunity to try new things and experiment with the sound of the group. Their latest album, Columbus or Bust, was released in 2005 and is produced by Blueprint. All the rhymes are by Blueprint and Fess. It features guest vocal appearances by our friends Murs and Jakki da Motormouth. |
